A video detailing the family's history when it comes to baby-making received more than 300,000 likes. People were touched by the good news that the family shared as they celebrated the expected new addition.
In a TikTok video shared by ABCNews, the Shermans received congratulations on national television after one of the women married into the family revealed she was pregnant with a girl. The announcement comes after more than 100 years of the family only welcoming baby boys. The Sherman family reunites every time there's a pregnancy to do a gender reveal, and each time they are excited to see if the century-old pattern will break with the birth of a baby girl. 2025 was the year it finally happened when firefighter Michael and Joacquia Sherman announced that their older son, Mekhai, would have a sister.

Family members appeared on camera, excited that there would finally be a woman born into the family for the first time since 1917, when the expecting father's great-great-aunt Orah Belle Sherman was born.
