The clip, shared by TikTok user @tripple.a.tee, was met with a wave of amusement and a lively online discussion.

The video starts with the woman, TikTok user @tripple.a.tee, sitting comfortably in front of her camera, addressing the nonchalant behaviour of locals shown towards a female celebrity at a mall. She said people were walking normally, as if nothing was happening or that they were not seeing someone famous, something that would not happen in Nigeria.

A celebrity encounter

The woman said she asked her South African friend she was with why people were so calm, and she said that's just how it is in Mzansi. Her friend added that celebrities are human, like everyone else. The woman, TikTok user @tripple.a.tee, explained that in Nigeria, if a person who has appeared on TV is spotted, everyone stops them and asks to take pictures with them immediately.

Mzansi explains local celebrity culture

They reminded the lady that celebrities are just doing their job, just like they do theirs. Some explained that they respect people's privacy and do not bother them during their free time. Others added a bit of banter, jokingly saying that everyone in South Africa was a celebrity, hence no one cares about status.
