A Gold Coast snake catcher gave homeowners a wake-up call when he revealed just how many snakes can end up living above their heads without them knowing.

Gold Coast Snake Catcher - South East Reptile Relocations posted a photo on 18 September 2026 showing a handful of snakes, all removed from a single ceiling. The image quickly drew attention, with many people unable to believe one roof could house so many reptiles at once.

"Would you believe that all of these snakes came from the same ceiling?!"

Why snakes gather in ceilings during spring

According to the company, spring is the busiest season for exactly this kind of call-out. As ovulating females release pheromones, they draw in large numbers of males searching for a mate. The result is that an entire local snake population can end up converging on one property.

The company noted that this is also the time of year when residents most frequently report strange noises coming from their ceilings at night. Sliding and thumping sounds in the roof space are common signs that snakes have moved in.
