A professional snake catcher in Limpopo left thousands of viewers stunned after footage of him extracting a black mamba from a storage area at a lodge went viral on Facebook on 23 September 2026.
Mfezi Victor, dressed in his branded "Snake Catcher" uniform, was called out to a lodge in Springbokvlakte, Limpopo, after staff spotted the snake concealed among old refrigerators and discarded appliances in a cluttered utility area.
Mfezi Victor faces off with Africa's deadliest snake
Armed with a snake hook, Victor carefully manoeuvred the large mamba out from its hiding spot. The creature was visibly agitated, making the extraction tense to watch. Despite the black mamba being widely regarded as one of the most dangerous snakes on the continent, known for its speed, aggression when cornered, and highly potent venom, Victor remained composed throughout. He switched his grip several times before safely securing the snake in a lidded bin.

Throughout the video, he narrated what he was doing, briefly switching between English and Afrikaans to explain the snake's behaviour and characteristics to viewers. "That's my mamba now," he said at one point, with the kind of calm that comes only from experience.
