Phelang Langi, a South African travel creator, shared her honest take on a private villa stay in Ubud, Bali, and the video quickly caught attention online.
Langi booked three nights at Abinaya Villa for R5,300, staying entirely on her own. She gave the property an 8.5 out of 10 and used her Instagram reel to walk viewers through exactly what that score meant.
What won her over at Abinaya Villa
The housekeeping stood out immediately. Fresh bedding and towels arrived daily, the pool was kept spotless and staff even washed her dishes. The open-air kitchen came fully stocked with a fridge, microwave, coffee machine and all the basics for self-catering. Toiletries were provided, including toothpaste and body wash, which she said was a thoughtful touch for forgetful travellers.

The bedroom featured a large canopy bed with air conditioning, but it was the bathroom that she called her favourite space in the entire villa. An outdoor shower and a bathtub, both overlooking the pool, left a real impression.
"This was such a vibe. The way I abused that shower because we don't have this at home."
Where the villa fell short
Not everything matched the price tag. The flower pool, which guests pay for in advance, only offered whatever blooms were available that day, with no colour variety guaranteed. She felt that should be stated upfront before booking.
The floating breakfast was the bigger disappointment. It did not match what was advertised, and the villa forgot to deliver hers entirely. For a pre-paid experience, she expected better. Thin walls were also a problem, with neighbouring conversations carrying through clearly despite guests speaking at a normal volume.
Still, she ended the review on a positive note, saying the villa's location near Ubud's restaurants, activities and nightlife made it genuinely worth the price.
