According to Golden Epaulettes, becoming an airline pilot in South Africa requires meeting several important requirements. The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) issues pilot licenses to candidates who pass written and oral exams, complete flight training programmes, and have a minimum of 250 hours of flight experience.

Medical examinations are essential, including vision and hearing tests, coordination and balance assessments, plus psychological evaluations. Pilots need at least 150 hours of cross-country flight time, 100 hours of instrument flying, and 50 hours of night flying experience.

Additional requirements include being at least 18 years old, having a valid South African passport and driver's license, plus the ability to read, write and understand English. The path requires dedication and proper training, but many aspiring pilots successfully achieve their aviation dreams in South Africa.
