"Only South Africans Know": Mzansi Woman Hires Quantum in Thailand Because She Missed Home

A South African travel blogger turned a quiet solo trip in Thailand into a full-blown house session, and the internet could not get enough of it.

Nwabisa, who goes by @nwaiisonjica on Instagram, was in Phuket on 15 August 2026 when homesickness hit. Her solution was very South African: she hired a quantum minibus taxi fitted with a speaker system and filled it with the sounds of home.

In the clip she shared, she is seen seated in the taxi, lip-syncing, singing and dancing along to South African music pumping through the speaker. She pulled off classic SA dance moves, completely unbothered that she was alone on the other side of the world. The video's overlay text read:

Homesickness hits different abroad

Psychologists recognise homesickness as a genuine form of adjustment stress and anxiety. It can show up as persistent sadness, difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite and social withdrawal. For Nwabisa, that ritual came in the form of a quantum and an amapiano playlist.
