Local Entrepreneur Provides Safe Water for Northern Cape Communities

Clean water is more than a basic need—it is the foundation of health, dignity, and growth. Yet in many communities, safe drinking water is not guaranteed. That is the challenge Lesego Moagi, founder and director of Tlhatlogo Holdings, set out to solve. With determination, innovation, and community spirit, she has built a business that is not just supplying water but pouring hope into every drop.

Tlhatlogo Holdings provides filtered, pure water to households, events, and local businesses. The company sources water, stores it in a 5,000-litre Jojo tank, filters it, and makes it accessible as bottled water or affordable refills. For families, this means clean, safe drinking water at their fingertips; for communities, it means trust and reliability in every glass.

“I saw a need for clean water in my local community, the water we drink isn’t clean enough, I wanted to find a way to give access to purified water.”

From supplying daily refills to fulfilling bulk orders of 300 bottled waters for a catering company, Tlhatlogo Holdings has grown into a trusted local brand. Its resilience through Covid-19 and its ability to expand services into waste disposal, disinfecting, and cleaning show its strength and adaptability.

This vision has not gone unnoticed. The business has received support from Anglo American Zimele, empowering Lesego to strengthen her operations and amplify her impact. Such backing has enabled Tlhatlogo Holdings to not only serve the community but also create jobs, offering employment and laying the foundation for long-term opportunities in a town where unemployment remains high.

“I want my children and my grandchildren to live in a world with clean air, pure drinking water, and an abundance of wildlife,” Lesego says.

Her words reflect a vision that goes beyond water: a commitment to a future where sustainability and community development walk hand in hand.

As Lesego often reminds herself and others:

“In an underdeveloped country, don’t drink the water; in a developed country, don’t breathe the air.”

Tlhatlogo Holdings is working every day to make sure her community never has to live under either warning. It is not just about water, it is about transforming lives, creating opportunities, and building a future where every drop counts.
