Floyd Shivambu is being linked with fugitive church leader Shepherd Bushiri again, thanks to the logo of his newly launched political party, Mayibuye iAfrika Movement.

Shivambu officially announced the launch of Mayibuye iAfrika Movement on Friday, 5 September 2025. During the announcement at the Mhulu Boutique Hotel in Midrand, the former uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party Secretary-General also appointed himself Mayibuye iAfrika Movement President.

After the logo of Shivambu’s new political party was unveiled, several netizens shared their thoughts on the design, with some linking Mayibuye iAfrika to Shepherd Bushiri.

Popular social media user Chris Excel, who started a fundraising campaign for General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, shared pictures breaking down the Mayibuye iAfrika Movement logo. The post was captioned:

“Wait 🤔😭😭😭”

In the post, Chris Excel shared the Mayibuye iAfrika party logo, the Malawian flag, a picture of Floyd Shivambu with Shepherd Bushiri taken during his ill-fated visit to the fugitive cleric and a meme of Somizi Mhlongo.

In the comments, several netizens alleged that Shepherd Bushiri was funding Floyd Shivambu, while others explained that the logo and party had nothing to do with the controversial man of the cloth.

In related news, this isn't the first time the Mayibuye iAfrika Movement logo has come under scrutiny.

Briefly News reported that Floyd Shivambu was accused of allegedly copying the logo of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

Shivambu rejected claims of copying the EFF logo, and explained the revolutionary symbolism behind the Mayibuye logo.
