PRETORIA — National Coloured Congress MP Fadiel Adams admitted during proceedings at the Madlanga Commission that he had not been truthful about the timing of his communications with Cedric Nkabinde, chief of staff to Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.
According to SABC News, Adams had previously stated under testimony that his first contact with Nkabinde took place on 1 November 2024. Evidence leader Advocate Lee Segeels-Ncube challenged that account by presenting an email trail showing the two had been in contact before that date.
Adams corrects his timeline on the stand
Confronted with the evidence, Adams, who called former IDAC head Andrea Johnson a liar, conceded that his earlier version of events was incorrect and revised his testimony accordingly. The exchange between Adams and Segeels-Ncube laid bare the contradiction in real time.

"So, I found out who the Minister's staff was. And also, the other person that was looking, no, I'm lying, no, no," Adams said during the proceedings.
Segeels-Ncube replied:
"You are lying. You said yesterday that you… Yes. No, no, my sequence is here. And I wasn't even trying to catch you out in a lie."
Adams responded:
"No, I know. I was just correcting you."
Pattern of disputed claims at the Commission
The admission over his contact timeline was not the first credibility challenge Adams faced at the commission. Earlier testimony saw him questioned over disputed affidavits, allegations relating to Political Killings Task Team funding, and admissions that he had provided Mchunu with misleading information about intercepted police dockets. Adams had also attributed certain information to the late Major-General André Lincoln, a claim that was contested during the course of the commission's hearings.
