KWAMHLANGA, MPUMALANGA — The South African Police Service (SAPS) arrested a grade eight learner in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga, for allegedly stabbing his friend to death on 14 August 2025.
According to TimesLIVE, the learners were from Senzangakhona Secondary School and were on their way home from school when the stabbing happened in the afternoon. The circumstances that led to the violent stabbing are unknown. However, teachers were alerted by other pupils who allegedly witnessed the incident.

The Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene, and they declared the victim deceased. The police continue to investigate.

Stores of learners stabbed to death
A learner from Limpopo stabbed and killed his fellow grade 10 learner at a cultural event in Limpopo on 2 March 2025. The circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain unclear. When his mother rushed to the scene, he found him lying in a pool of blood.
Learners from a school in the east of Tshwane received counselling services after a grade 12 learner was stabbed to death. The incident happened on 17 June 2025 at the Lesedi Secondary School. The learner who allegedly stabbed his fellow schoolmate did not attend school on the day of the incident. He waited for the victim after school hours and reportedly stabbed the grade 12 learner from another school three times.

Students at the Centenary Secondary School in Asherville got into a racial altercation, which turned violent. Three pupils were rushed to the hospital, and the police were called to the scene. The incident is under investigation.
