SOUTH AFRICA — A dedicated Political Killings Task Team is actively investigating a series of targeted homicides that have claimed the lives of various political figures across South Africa. The incidents include the deaths of two MK Party representatives and two EFF members in Gauteng, two ANC councillors located in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, alongside a Democratic Alliance candidate running for a ward position in the Western Cape.
Nationwide Security Measures Escalated
Representing the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (Natjoints), Deputy National Commissioner for Policing Tebello Mosikili confirmed that multi-disciplinary security operations are being executed across all provinces. Mosikili issued a firm warning, stating that any individuals seeking political leverage through targeted attacks or violent disruption will face arrest, prosecution, and severe custodial sentences upon conviction.
She stressed that law enforcement authorities are positioned to thwart any efforts aimed at intimidating candidates, political organizations, or voters, ensuring the electoral process remains secure.
