SOUTH AFRICA — Advocate Ntuthuzelo Vanara has stepped in as interim director of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) after former leader Andrea Johnson surrendered her post. The announcement was finalized on 3 September 2026 by Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi alongside National Director of Public Prosecutions Andy Mothibi.
Johnson’s exit on 27 July arrived shortly after admissions before the Madlanga Commission revealed that claims levied against Crime Intelligence's Brigadier Dineo Mokwele lacked factual basis. Pointing to severe personal and career pressures tied to the probe, Johnson sought an immediate release from her duties, which President Cyril Ramaphosa approved.
