WESTERN CAPE — The Hawks have arrested a 55-year-old foreign national on human trafficking charges following a joint operation targeting a Cape Town brothel.
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) in the Western Cape confirmed that the arrest came after a search and seizure operation at a brothel in Rondebosch. During the raid, officers found a 21-year-old woman who had allegedly been forced to work as a sex worker. She was subsequently identified as a victim of human trafficking and referred for a medical assessment.
Suspect tracked down in Goodwood
The raid set off a targeted investigation to locate the person believed to be operating the brothel. On Friday, 18 September 2026, members of the Hawks' Economic Protected Resources team, working alongside City of Cape Town Law Enforcement and counter-trafficking organisation A21, apprehended the 55-year-old male suspect in Goodwood, Cape Town.

The suspect faces a charge of trafficking in persons and is expected to make his first court appearance at the Wynberg Magistrates' Court.
Multi-agency operation

A21 is an internationally active non-profit organisation that works alongside law enforcement to identify and support victims of trafficking.
