Vasti Spiller, the fiancée of UFC Middleweight fighter Dricus Du Plessis, has shown her partner love and support after his agonising loss to Khamzat Chimaev.

Du Plessis, who lost his championship title to Chimaev on Saturday by unanimous decision, had been unbeaten until this fight, marking a halt to his purple patch.

The South African failed to contain the indomitable, feisty Russian-born Chimaev, who barely gave him any breathing space across all five rounds.

Taking to Instagram, Spiller showered Du Plessis with love:

“My world ♥️. This is just the beginning,” she wrote.

The couple has been together since 2022

Spiller, who got engaged to Du Plessis in January 2025, has always been by his side, showing support through victories and reaffirming her love and loyalty even in the face of defeat.

The South African couple has been dating since 2022, and their engagement earlier this year coincided with Du Plessis’s 31st birthday. Their relationship has progressed steadily, built on shared values, mutual respect, and a strong Christian faith.

Spiller, a boxing coach at CIT Boxing Studio, is also an entrepreneur. She owns a photography business and is the author of The Art of Loving, a children’s book aimed at helping young readers overcome trauma.

"I will be back stronger and better than ever," he said.

Describing the defeat, Du Plessis said:

"He was just like a blanket. It wasn't a matter of strength; it wasn't that physical. It was as if he knew what my next move was going to be. He got it without using too much power, and I had to decide whether I was going to be on my back or have him on my back. At the end, I went for it, had the back, I could almost taste that victory, but, you know, big ups to Khamzat. He deserves this one 100%."

Why UFC Africa won't happen yet

Briefly News previously reported that UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis shed light on why hosting a UFC event in South Africa remains unlikely for now.

He explained that ticket prices, which can reach nearly R1 million, are beyond what most locals can afford, making the event financially unfeasible. Du Plessis also pointed out that while South Africa has large venues, very few meet the UFC’s indoor arena standards.
