Kaizer Chiefs youth player tragically passes away in a car accident

Kaizer Chiefs Under 19 Youth Development Academy player, James McFarlane tragically died after being involved in a car accident on Thursday.

The academy star was only 18-years-old. He regularly featured in the under 17 national team, Amajimbos. His death was confirmed by his managing agency, Siyavuma Sports Group on Friday. The agency released a statement.

The statement read: “It’s with a very heavy heart that we advise that James McFarlane, Kaizer Chiefs U19 and SA national U17 team player has passed away in a tragic accident. We have lost one of our family.”

Tributes poured in for the young player and many were saddened by the passing of a wonderful prospect in football. According to KickOff, details surrounding the accident are sketchy but it is understood that he was with two friends who also died on the scene.

Supersport presenter and sportscaster, Carol Tshabalala wrote on social media: "Really sad, he used to go to school with my son. They called him Ronaldo."
Kaizer Chiefs wrote on Twitter: "We pass our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and friends. May his soul Rest In Eternal Peace. #Amakhos4Life."

Rest in peace to the young star who had a bright future ahead of him. Gone too soon indeed.

In other news, Briefly.co.za previously reported that SA reacted hilariously to Chiefs wishing matrics good luck with exams. Kaizer Chiefs recently received an unexpected response from South African soccer fans after they took to their official Twitter page to share their well-wishes with South African matriculants who are writing their final exams for 2020.
