Bafana Bafana took part in a 2022 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier match this evening and drew one all against Ghana. It could have been far worse, if not for Percy Tau.
Despite some poor defence from Ghana, South Africa failed to capitalise on an early goal. Bafana Bafana fans were furious with Thapelo Morena for missing a vital goal opportunity in the first 5 minutes.
Bafana lost Ben Motshwari in the first half after taking a knock, he was replaced by Andile Jali.
Morena then missed another golden opportunity to put some points on the board at the half-hour mark.
@NjabuloQhobs:
"Am I the only one who's convinced that Thapelo Morena was born in Ghana.... ? So far Bafana Bafana is playing very well."
Mohammed Kudus put points on the board for Ghana, making those missed opportunities by SA hurt so much more.
Fortunately, Tau saved the day (sort of) and saved South Africa from an embarrassing defeat against Ghana, who were not at their best.
@Ndobe_Bibow:
"Ben Motshwari was everywhere Nice game from Bafana Bafana. Dankie Percy tau ."
@Anele__ZA:
"Watching Bafana Bafana I now see why Lionel Messi calls himself Percy Tau of Argentina ."
@SandileKubheka_:
"Percy Tau is a whole Bafana Bafana squad on his own."
@IvanMadonsela:
"Percy Tau is to Bafana Bafana what #Cr7 Ronaldo is to Portuagal. ❤"
Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that Bafana Bafana striker Percy Tau says communication between his club Brighton & Hove Albion was key as he managed to honour the call-up.
Despite not playing regular football in the English Premier League, Tau is the only overseas-based player who has returned home for the clash against Ghana and Sudan.
Coach Molefi Ntseki and his troops sit second with nine points in Group C behind the Black Stars of Ghana; the two African giants are separated on goal difference.
