Man United to Face Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce As Europa League Draw Is Done

Manchester United have drawn Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce in the 2024/25 Europa League.

The Portuguese boss will return to his former team next season, six years after he was fired.

The Red Devils have also been drawn with Rangers, FC Porto, PAOK, Bodo/Glimt, Viktoria Plzen, FC Twente, and FCSB in the new-look competition.

Mourinho coached Man United for more than two seasons before he was sacked in December 2018 after a poor run of results, per BBC.

He is the last manager to lead the club to European success. With the club, he won the 2027 Europa League crown.

Mourinho’s visit not the first

This is not the first time Mourinho is reuniting with his former club after his sacking. He coached Tottenham Hotspur against the Red Devils a few times. Former Man United players Fred and Sofyan Amrabat.

The two-time Champions League winner dropped to the Europa League after the Turkish giants failed to progress to the Champions League phase after a 3-2 loss to Lille.

Meanwhile, Man United had to win the FA Cup to reach the Europa League after a dreadful league campaign in which they finished eighth, their worst position in the Premier League era.

Like the Champions League, UEFA has changed the format by creating a league phase where every team plays four games home and away, expanding the competition to 36 teams.

In the new format, no team in the primary competition will drop down to the Europa League.

On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur will face Italian sides AS Roma and Galatasaray.

Matchday one is scheduled for September 25 and 25.

Man United boss blames players

Briefly News also reported that Erik ten Hag appeared to blame three Man United players for Brighton's defeat last weekend.

The Dutchman appeared to blame Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, and Kobbie Mainoo for not showing Simon Adingra the line as he crossed the ball for the winning goal.
