Wayne Rooney is Manchester United's record goal scorer and one of the club's greatest-ever players.
During this time at the club, he shared the pitch with legendary players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Scholes, and Rio Ferdinand.
The former England international recently picked his best teammate.
The Plymouth Argyle coach made cover 500 appearances for the Red Devils and scored over 250 goals. The former captain also won five Premier League titles and the 2008 Champions League, per Transfermarkt.
Rooney picked Darren Fletcher as his best teammate but included others who were good.
"Best teammate? I'd say Darren Fletcher, he's my best mate, he said via Sportbible. "There were a few - John O'Shea, Wes Brown, Michael Carrick - we were all really close. But Fletch was probably the one. We sat next to each other in the dressing room and shared really good moments on and off the pitch together. We're really good friends s I'd say Darren Fletcher is my best teammate and closest."
The former Everton forward and Fletcher spent 11 years together at the club and played 228 matches together.
Rooney did not include Ronaldo despite playing together in one of the club's most successful eras. The two legends recently exchanged words after Rooney criticised Ronaldo.
Ronaldo sends message to Erik ten Hag
Briefly News also reported that Man United legend Cristiano Ronaldo sent a message to the club and coach Erik ten Hag.
The Al-Nassr star aimed a thinly veiled criticism at Erik ten Hag for his remarks suggesting that Manchester United are not in contention for major titles this season.
Ten Hag’s candid assessment, which compared United’s current capabilities to those of their Premier League rivals vying for Champions League spots, may have had some merit, given the team's start to the 2024/25 campaign.
