Ruud van Nistelrooy will lead Manchester United in the next few games as the club concludes the process of appointing Ruben Amorim as their new coach.

The Dutchman was part of Erik ten Hag's coaching staff before his firing earlier this week.

The legendary striker suggested he is open to being part of Amorim's staff.

van Nistelrooy arrived at the club in the summer as ten Hag's assistant coach, but his spell could be cut short when Ruben Amorim takes over.

van Nistelrooy's message to next Man United coach

According to The Athletic, Amorim will take charge of his first game after the international break, meaning Van Nistelrooy will coach the team until then.

The Premier League Golden Boot winner is open to working in any capacity when Amorim arrives.

“As an assistant, I came here to help the club forward, and I’m still very motivated to do so in any capacity," he said via Football365.

He was asked what will happen when Amorim arrives in the coming weeks.

“We will see but it’s a contract situation that I’m in, and my desire to help the club forward...So I can speak to you about my side of this story, and after that, when the new situation is occurring, when the new manager is signing and conversations takes place, we have to see how things develop.”

Amorim will be expected to make an immediate impact, considering the team is 14th in the Premier League with three wins.

Winners and losers under Amorim

When Amorim is officially confirmed as the coach, players will be affected negatively or positively.

Manuel Ugarte could benefit from Amorim, considering he played under the young coach at Sporting CP, as Briefly News reported earlier. Players like Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes could be negatively affected.

Briefly News also reported that Ruud van Nistelrooy returned to Man United as part of ten Hag's backroom staff in the summer.

The Dutchman thanked ten Hag for giving him the opportunity at Man United, adding that he is sad he has left the role. He said he was happy to lead the club as a caretaker coach for the club he loves.
