- Former Man United defender Gary Neville outlined a big 'red flag' he saw at Portman Road on Sunday
Manchester United were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Ipswich Town in Ruben Amorim's first match in charge.
After weeks of extensive media coverage, Amorim's side failed to produce a convincing performance.
Club legend Gary Neville has highlighted some of the red flags he saw during the clash at Portman Road.
The draw left Manchester United 12th in the Premier League after 12 games, but things could get harder as we enter the festive period, when games come thick and fast.
Neville's 'red flags' in Amorim's first game
The Portuguese coach said they will need time to put together a solid team after what he saw against Ipswich. Marcus Rashford's quick goal was cancelled late in the first half by Omari Hutchinson, and both teams had to settle for a draw.
Neville was not surprised by what he saw against Ipswich. He said he has seen players do the same things for the last few months.
“They don't want criticism. But you watch them play, even yesterday, the new system, and you look at Ipswich, who are very near the bottom of the league, who look more organized, better coached. They look like they've got more appetite for the game, more enthusiasm,” he said via Standard Sports.
Amorim will be under pressure to create a competent team from the expensively assembled squad.
They face Bodo/Glimt, Everton, Arsenal, and Nottingham Forest in their next four matches.
