Marcus Rashford has dropped a bombshell admission after he admitted that he was ready to quit Manchester United if push came to shove.

Rashford was surprisingly left out of the squad that beat Manchester City in the derby on Sunday, with head coach Ruben Amorim appearing to question his professionalism in training.

The England international has now stated that he is ready to take the 'next steps' but insisted if he does so, it will be without hard feelings.

"For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps. When I leave, it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. If I know that a situation is already bad, I'm not going to make it worse," he told journalist Henry Winter.

Marcus Rashford reacts to being dropped for Manchester derby

Rashford also revealed that he was disappointed with Amorim's decision to leave him out of the derby despite being 100% fit.

"It's disheartening to be left out of a derby, but it's happened; we won the game, so let's move on. It's disappointing but I'm also someone as I've got older I can deal with setbacks. What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it. Or do my best the next time I'm available."

How Rashford reacted after being dropped for Manchester derby

The 27-year-old had earlier posted a photo of him celebrating Manchester United's win at the Etihad courtesy of a late Amad Diallo masterclass.

There have been rumours in recent times that the INEOS ownership has earmarked Rashford and many other players for sale in a bid to revamp the squad in the summer.

What next for Marcus Rashford?

It would be interesting to see how Amorim deals with the latest information. The Red Devils play Tottenham in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Thursday before facing Bournemouth in the league on Sunday.

Briefly News had earlier reported that Marcus Rashford had addressed his surprising omission from the Manchester United squad that faced Manchester City in the December 15 derby.

Alongside Alejandro Garnacho, Rashford was among the notable absentees from Ruben Amorim's lineup.
