Nasreddine Nabi has announced Kaizer Chiefs' new captain ahead of the forthcoming 2025-26 season following the departure of Yusuf Maart this summer.

Maart led Kaizer Chiefs to the Nedbank Cup triumph last season, scoring the winning goal in the final against his former club Orlando Pirates before deciding to join Austrian Bundesliga side SV Ried earlier this month.

The Glamour Boys invested a lot in transfers this summer and brought in new quality players, but that has not reflected the club's performance since the start of pre-season, especially in their last match against Asante Kotoko in the Toyota Cup.

Nabi names Kaizer Chiefs' new captain

After the match against Asante Kotoko on Saturday, Nabi confirmed that Angolan international Inacio Miguel will be the new captain of Kaizer Chiefs for the 2025-26 season.

The Angolan defender joined Amakhosi last summer and was an important player in their quest to end their trophy drought last campaign.

“I believe that you have answered the question that it’s friendly games and we are not going to comment on friendly games,” Nabi told the media via translation of Cedric Kaze.
“Miguel will be the captain for the 2025-26 season.”

The decision by the Tunisian tactician to name Miguel as the new captain sparked different reactions from Kaizer Chiefs fans on social media.
