Pitso Mosimane Distances Himself from Controversial New Book: Fans React Online
- Former coach Pitso Mosimane, known for his time at Mamelodi Sundowns, has publicly distanced himself from a book written about him
- The book looks into Mosimane’s career and reputation, raising questions about his achievements and controversies
- South Africans have weighed in on social media on the issue and are divided on the subject
Former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane is not happy after a book about him was published without his consent or consultation.
Mosimane, who recently lost a R7.9 million legal battle with Sundowns, remains the most successful coach in the club's history, with 11 trophies to his name, including the only CAF Champions League title the club won in 2016.

The book, titled Pitso Mosimane: Cry Baby or Misunderstood Genius?, is written by award-winning journalist Hosea P. Ramphekwa.
What is the book about?
The book’s description paints a sharp and poignant picture of Mosimane, noting that he is loathed as much as he is loved in South Africa. It suggests that while he serves as an inspiration to some, he is an irritation to others.

According to the description, many football followers find it difficult to label the three-time CAF Champions League-winning coach, asking whether he is a warmonger, a sore loser, a crybaby, a master tactician, a misunderstood genius, a fighter, a winner, a legend of the game, or a ruthless and relentless coach.
As seen in the tweet below:
The book examines Mosimane’s prolific coaching career, spanning South Africa, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, where he has won nearly twenty trophies with clubs including Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, SuperSport United, and Al-Ahli Saudi FC, as well as three CAF Champions League titles.
Ramphekwa explores his tactical brilliance, relentless drive, and fiery temperament, shedding light on both his achievements and the controversies that have made him one of African football’s most polarising figures.
When was the book launched and published?
Published and launched on Thursday, 4 September, the book has not received Mosimane’s endorsement. His management team, MT Sports Marketing and Management, released a statement distancing him from the publication:
Mosimane’s management team said that he had neither been consulted, involved, nor asked to verify any details in the publication. They added that while the book focuses on him, he is in no way associated with it and does not endorse it.
At present, Mosimane had not reviewed the book’s contents and reserves all his rights under South African law.
The team stated that, as his representatives, they remain committed to protecting and upholding the integrity, reputation, and professional legacy of the coach, and that the statement serves as his formal disassociation and notice of non-involvement in the book.

"He banna! 🙆 We have RSVP'd 🤷. We shall see when we get there."
@MrMhaule:
"Pitso thinks we are all Floyd Shivambu's followers. The man announced on National TV that he will one day release a book. He is still fighting with the Multi-Billionaire? This man won't only destroy himself, but he's taking his children down with him too. This is Motsepe!"
