He further noted that the club’s upward trajectory is evident, pointing to their fourth-place finish last season, their best-ever since gaining promotion to the top flight in 2021.

Biyela explained that the team’s consistent performances and ability to challenge bigger clubs demonstrate ambition and a growing competitive spirit.

Biyela added that Sekhukhune United’s progression from newly promoted side to league leaders underscores the club’s determination to compete at the highest level, while also keeping their sights on qualifying for CAF interclub competitions.

He observed that this evolution is a testament to strong leadership, tactical discipline, and the squad’s resilience under pressure.

With Sekhukhune United firmly in the title conversation, Biyela believes that the coming fixtures will be crucial in determining whether the team can sustain its form and possibly claim its first Premiership crown.

Sekhukhune's steady form this season

Sekhukhune United’s form this season has been steady, if at times unspectacular, but it has laid the foundation for their current momentum.

They opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Stellenbosch, a side that went on to suffer a heavy 3-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final on Saturday, 13 September.

Another 1-1 stalemate followed against AmaZulu, but Babina Noko showed signs of growing confidence when they finally turned draws into three points with a convincing 2-0 victory over Durban City.

Looking ahead, Sekhukhune will next face Chippa United on 24 September, a fixture that offers them a chance to consolidate their place at the summit.

However, their true credentials as potential title challengers will be tested on 18 October, when they come up against reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns, a clash that could provide the clearest indication yet of how far the Limpopo side has come.
