Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has hailed midfielder Marcelo Allende as one of the most underrated players in South Africa, insisting his quality often goes unnoticed.

Allende underlined his value once again on Saturday, September 21, scoring as the defending champions rallied from behind to secure a 3-1 league victory over Durban City in Pretoria.
The Chilean international was also instrumental in Sundowns' run last season in the Betway Premiership and in the CAF Champions League, where they lost in the final to Pyramids FC.
Sundowns have now regained dominance in the league after starting slowly, but are still behind Sekhukhune United, who remain top of the table.

Cardoso names Sundowns star who’s underrated
After the match, Miguel Cardoso spoke about the Chilean midfielder’s brilliance not being talked about enough in the Betway Premiership.
He wants the South American player to be appreciated more in South Africa due to the quality he adds to his team.

“It’s important for people in South Africa to truly appreciate the quality Marcelo brings. I feel he’s still underrated and hasn’t yet received the recognition he deserves.”
He added: “For me, what matters most is that he enjoys his football, plays with freedom, and expresses himself. That freedom gives him the chance to explore different spaces and possibilities on the pitch.”
“I’m really pleased with what he continues to show us — he’s a fantastic player, and we’re privileged to watch him in action.”
Cardoso's claim about Allende being underrated in the South African league gathered reactions from fans on social media.
