The Chiefs coach confirmed that Phili’s injury was the club’s major setback this week but insisted that the team has enough available players to cope with his absence.

Chiefs faced Richards Bay under pressure

Despite the setback, Kaizer Chiefs are set to face Richards Bay on Wednesday evening in a fixture that carries considerable weight in the league standings. The Natal Richboys have historically been a difficult opponent for Chiefs, who have lost all three of their previous meetings against the coastal side.

The stakes are high. A victory for Chiefs would draw them level on points with fierce rivals Orlando Pirates, while a win by a margin of three goals or more would propel Amakhosi to the top of the log.

Da Cruz will need to reorganise his attacking options in Phili's absence as the club attempts to maintain momentum during a critical stretch of the season.
