Orlando Pirates have moved into second place in PSL history for the longest unbeaten away run after thrashing Kruger United 4-0 in their Betway Premiership fixture on Tuesday night.
The result extended the Buccaneers' unbeaten record away from home to 18 matches across all competitions, surpassing the tallies of both Kaizer Chiefs and the now-defunct SuperSport United, who each reached 17 on two separate occasions, according to OptaJabu.
**Pirates Close In on Sundowns' Record**
Standing between Orlando Pirates and outright PSL history is Mamelodi Sundowns, who strung together an extraordinary run of 20 consecutive away games without defeat between 2020 and 2021. That milestone remains the benchmark Pirates are now chasing.
Across their 18-game unbeaten away sequence, which stretches back to October 2025, the Sea Robbers have recorded 14 wins and four draws. The run has accelerated since the arrival of coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, under whose guidance the club has consistently broken and set new league records.

Kruger United, making their debut season in the PSL, bore the brunt of Pirates' relentless form. The Soweto giants maintained their position at the top of the Betway Premiership log with the convincing victory.
**A Campaign Transformed From Last Season**
The contrast with Pirates' start to last season could hardly be more stark. The club lost their opening two fixtures in 2024-25, whereas this season they remain unbeaten through five league matches, with only a single draw on their record.
Their attacking output tells a similar story. After five league games last term, Pirates had scored just six goals. At the same stage this campaign, they have already netted 12, doubling their previous output and signalling a shift in both confidence and ambition.
With Sundowns' record now firmly in their sights and the league title race well underway, Pirates will be aiming to extend their away unbeaten run in the weeks ahead.
