Springbok and Leinster lock RG Snyman has become a father for the first time. His wife, Saskia, confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing photographs of their newborn daughter alongside the caption: "Rooks Rose. She's here, and she's perfect."
The couple met while studying at the University of Pretoria and have been together since. Snyman proposed to Saskia at the Marataba Game Reserve in March 2019, and they married on 16 November that year, just weeks after South Africa won the Rugby World Cup in Japan. A second World Cup triumph followed in 2023.
Snyman's Car Collection Reflects Life Stages
Away from international rugby, the 2.07-metre lock has built up a modest but characterful vehicle collection over the years. His association with Mercedes-Benz became publicly visible in 2023, when he thanked the brand after receiving a vehicle. Reports at the time placed him behind the wheel of a Mercedes SUV, though the specific model was never officially confirmed.

In 2025, Snyman added a black Chevrolet truck to his garage and shared photographs on social media, joking that he had finally found a vehicle he could comfortably fit into. The truck bore a personalised number plate reading "VIKNG," a reference to the nickname that has accompanied him throughout his playing career.
Hyundai Sponsorship Arrives at the Right Time
The most recent vehicle in his collection came through a sponsorship arrangement with Hyundai Paarl, who announced they would be supplying Snyman with a brand-new Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid. The spacious family SUV arrived at a fitting moment, as the couple prepared for the birth of Rooks Rose.
The deal also came during one of the more difficult stretches of Snyman's career. He suffered another ACL injury while playing for Leinster in March 2026, ruling him out for the remainder of the season. It was his third such injury, following two ACL setbacks during his time at Munster.
From a Mercedes SUV to a personalised Chevrolet truck and now a family-oriented Hyundai hybrid, Snyman's vehicle choices have tracked his evolution from elite rugby player to new father.
