Springbok lock RG Snyman has officially joined the ranks of girl dads. His wife, Saskia, announced on Instagram that the couple had welcomed their first child, a baby daughter named Rooks Rose.

Saskia shared the news alongside photos of their newborn, writing: "Rooks Rose. She's here, and she's perfect."

The couple have been living in Ireland since 2020, when RG, nicknamed the "Viking" for his towering frame, signed with Munster. He later moved to Leinster in 2024. Having resided in Ireland for over five years, the Snymans are eligible for residency, and baby Rooks Rose may also qualify for Irish citizenship as the child of long-term legal residents.

The joy of becoming a first-time father comes during a difficult period for the 30-year-old lock. Snyman ruptured the ACL in his right knee in March while playing for Leinster against Glasgow Warriors, ruling him out for the rest of the 2025/26 season. Leinster confirmed the injury shortly after it occurred.

Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus has also confirmed that Snyman is among the long-term injured players expected to return only in 2027. Fellow Springbok Kwagga Smith, whose wife was also expecting around the same time, faces a similar timeline.

With fatherhood now added to his life, Snyman joins a growing list of Springbok girl dads, including Eben Etzebeth and Bongi Mbonambi. He and Kwagga Smith are also both first-time fathers, alongside teammates Vincent Tshituka and Edwill van der Merwe.

For now, Rooks Rose takes centre stage as the Snyman family settles into this new chapter of their lives in Ireland.
