Jacob Zuma gives to the poor but Mzansi questions when and why

Engineer Matshela Koko (@koko_matshela) shared a photo of former President Jacob Zuma standing among hundreds of food parcels.

The pic was accompanied by a caption saying, “This the season for giving. I thank you for doing that @PresJGZuma.”

The post gave the distinct impression that Zuma recently partook in the generous philanthropy.

However, tweeps were quick to shoot down the post and claimed it to be an old photo.

The vast majority of the comments questioned Zuma’s motives and many felt it does little to remedy past injustices and corruption.

Some tweeps stood firmly behind JZ and were blown away by his gesture.

Andile Shandu (@shanduba) summed up their point of view by saying the date of the photo is irrelevant and that the people are still appreciative.

Briefly.co.za gathered the photo was indeed from a year ago at the 16th annual Jacob Zuma RDP Education Trust Senior Citizens' Christmas Party at Mnyakanya High School, KwaNxamalala, Nkandla.
