Boy Mamabolo opened Pandora's Box when he accused Economic Freedom Fighter leader Julius Malema of abuse.
Briefly.co.za reported that this move had earned him a public telling-off from President Cyril Ramaphosa, who condemned gender-based violence being used to score political points.
Now, Sunday World has released a report from an unnamed former lover who accuses the ANC MP of being 'the real abuser', claiming to have evidence.
The ex-lover claims that she had endured numerous violent exchanges at the hands of Mamabolo, including an incident that saw him beating her with a cold drink bottle:
“I think he found something on my cell phone – he was always snooping – and accused me of cheating. He beat me with his hands and I felt I could lose my life. He took an empty bottle of Coke and started hitting me on my knuckles and my legs. He also tried to gouge my eye out, but failed.”

The woman filed criminal charges against Mamabolo, but a conviction was never forth-coming.
Mamabolo has responded to the allegations, insisting that they were 'fabricated' against him:
“I dumped her in 2012 after finding out she was dating the EFF’s Jossie Buthane. She then fabricated a number of charges against me, but voluntarily withdrew them later. She knew they wouldn’t hold up in court. The fact is, I was never found guilty of any offence”
