Brown vinegar and salt trended on Twitter this week and those who have no idea what it means would have guessed it has something to do with cooking.

However, apparently these common household items hold the power to show you the supernatural.

Social media user, @Thatgirlher1, shared a screenshot of an explanation to what happens when one mixes brown vinegar and salt.

According to her post, white vinegar and salt underneath one's bed cleanses the room of bad energy. However, when you supposedly mix brown vinegar and salt it shows you the negative energy in the room.

While many would write off the above as a fluke or superstition, some social media users swore that it worked and that they actually had terrifying experiences after attempting it.

Briefly.co.za decided to take a look at some of the alleged brown vinegar and salt testimonies.

We could not confirm whether or not those who claimed to have had a supernatural experience where being truthful but many of the posts seemed far-fetched.

Xolani Ngcobo, who goes by the Twitter handle @XolaniNgcobo167, commented:

"#BrownVinegarAndSaltTestimony I'd rather not give my testimony, all I can say is I'm never doing it again."
