Benathi Makiyela is an ambitious young man with both a passion and natural talent for creating something out of nothing. The young South African student and entrepreneur has opened up with Briefly.co.za about his successful tyre recycling business.
"I started recycling tyres in 2017 with my friend Malwande Prince Mgotywa, who has since moved on to start his own company while I have since formally registered my company this year, he explains.
Benathi then goes on to explain how he was faced with a number of troubles with getting his tyre recycling business off the ground and on to the right and successful path. Juggling school and the business, finding the right team, and marketing his business on a broad spectrum are just a few of the issues he was faced with.
He did not, however, allow that to stop him from making the decisions that would help him and his business step out of harm's way and right into the direction of growth and even success.
I had to be very disciplined in managing my time. I had also been on lookout for an equipped and energetic team which is all under the age of 30 to help me realise my goals. I also got support from my family and people around really boosted my belief ,faith and confidence in the business .
Some of Benathi's hopes for the future include becoming SA's biggest manufacturer of tyre recycled products in SA. He also hopes to employ thousands more artisans and people interested in working in the recycling business.
His advice to upcoming entrepreneurs and dreamers:
"All I can say to all the hustle-preneurs out there is that in life if you want to change the situation, you need to first change your mindset."
