Sam Phillips has passed away at the age of 72, the veteran stage and screen actor was an inspiration to many of his peers.

He had graced both the stage and screens and worked as a writer, producer, director and a music composer.

Phillips had also starred in international plays such as Athol Fugard's Master Herold and The Boys which was performed in New Orleans, USA.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that Welcome Bhodloza Nzimande has passed away, he was rushed to the hospital this morning and after battling a short illness he succumbed.

Nzimande is a veteran in the entertainment industry, he joined the SABC back in 1978 as an announcer.

He eventually became the station manager of Ukhozi FM and was also the presenter for Ezodumo, a show which highlighted indigenous music.

In other news, Mzansi has lost another one of its stars as it was announced that Wandi 'DJ1D' Nzimande has passed away.

Nzimande was a resident DJ at Kaya FM and the co-founded the streetwear brand Loxion Kulca. The radio station released a statement that confirmed the sad news.

The DJ and businessman's death marks yet another loss for those in the entertainment industry community and celebrities took to social media to share their reactions.
