Dolly Parton is celebrating her 75th birthday. The iconic performer is recognised all over the world and has awards from every corner of the entertainment industry to her name.

Her bright blonde hair and Southern twang have a remarkably disarming charm about them and might make her appear whimsical, but Dolly remains a driven career-woman, loving wife and devoted humanitarian.

Dolly posted a throwback photograph of herself from earlier days in entertainment and wrote a caption that expressed how her birthday wish was a call to kindness.

Dolly wrote:

"Thank you for all of the love on my birthday. This year my wish is a call for kindness. We can’t just hope for a brighter day, we have to work for a brighter day. Love too often gets buried in a world of hurt and fear. We have to work to dig it out so we can share it with our family, our friends and our neighbors. So today, January 19th, let’s get to unearthing love."

Dolly showed her kindness to humanity as the star gave her support, and money, to coronavirus research. Just after the Covid-19 crisis had been declared a pandemic, Dolly donated $1 million dollars to Vanderbilt University's research into the virus.

The university's research was directly involved in the development of the Moderna vaccine, which has had an incredibly high success rate against the virus.

The country singer's donation, which amounts to more than R15 million, was vital in the latest attempt at combatting the virus that threw the world into its current health crisis.

Lady Gaga has been an avid supporter of the Biden-Harris administration and participated in campaign events for them during the election so was an obvious choice to be part of the event.

The picture Gaga paired with her call for peace was one that encapsulated the grandeur of the Capitol building and showed her in a praying stance. She wore a white outfit to drive the message of peace as well as to echo the symbolic suffragette-white that Vice-President-Elect Kamala Harris wore for her own victory speech.
