Rapper Gigi Lamayne has bagged a deal with an independent music distributor called Electrode. The musician shared the amazing information on her Instagram account after she uploaded a video of herself signing the contract.
This deal means that the company will help distribute her songs to a wider audience. The well-established Electromode distributes music for other big names in the industry including Big Zulu.
Congratulations to Gigi.
The rapper had previously opened up about how difficult she found the music industry. Briefly.co.za previously reported that Gigi Lamayne recently slammed the music industry for all the pain it has brought her.
The rapper opened up about some of the cruel things that were said to her by industry peers as she navigated the music industry.
Taking to Twitter, Gigi revealed that she was once told that she was too dark and too ugly to make a success of herself. She posted:
“Imagine your career struggling because you are too dark to love. I’ve had to fight since I joined this industry. Your artists are worse though. They are traitors to the culture. I was apparently too dark and ugly to make it now people wanna smile? Why?”
She went on to say that she was considering retiring from music because she was tired of everything. Social media users comforted her while others slammed the colourism that is so prevalent in society. Twitter user No_limits8 said:
“Colourism a beast that never tires!”

Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za previously reported that Mzansi rapper Gigi Lamayne has taken to social media to share that she doesn't feel like people are appreciating her contribution to the hip hop music industry. Gigi is happy to have fans who have supported her but she feels that others can do more.
Gigi Lamayne came onto the scene a few years ago and was an exciting prospect. Especially since she is a woman, the hip hop game is a lot harder to break into. Gigi impressed and has even won a South African Hip Hop Award for Best Female Artist.
