Paula made it to the limelight because of her marriage and association with Dennis Rader. Dennis is best known as BTK, the renowned American serial killer. His infamous and creepy BTK nickname stands for 'bind, torture, kill.
Dennis began his murdering spree in 1974. His first victims were the members of the Otero family. That same year, he killed one more woman. In 1977, he murdered two more people, and at the time, he had established a pattern of killing young women who lived alone. In 1985, he killed an older woman, and in 1986, he killed another young woman. His last victim was an older woman whom he strangled in 1992 using a pantyhose.
Paula Dietz ex-husband kept mementoes of all his victims and often sent the media and police officers taunting letters explaining how he committed his crimes. At one point, he left a note inside a library book, and a part of it read,
The code word for me will be…bind them, torture them, kill them, B.T.K., you see he’s at it again.”
