Celebrated American poet, Amanda Gorman, dazzled in regal kente as she made history as the first poet to grace the cover of fashion magazine Vogue, for its May issue.

Gorman gained prominence after her momentous spoken word performance of The Hill We Climb at President Joe Biden and Vice-president Kamala Harris' inaugural ceremony in January.

The youth poet has remained true to her roots and principles as she only takes up roles or features that align with her values.

In an Instagram post to celebrate her historic achievement, Gorman wrote, ''The first poet ever on the cover of @voguemagazine. I am eternally grateful and do not expect to be the last - for what is poetry if not beauty?'' What a joy to do this cover while wearing a piece designed by groundbreaking Black designer @virgilabloh that honours my heritage.''

Gorman, for her Vogue cover, was styled in a stunning Louis Vuitton Blanket designed with Kente by Louis Vuitton’s first Black artistic director Virgil Abloh.

In an eye-catching snap by Annie Leibovitz, Gorman enhanced her looks with a blanket cinched to her waist and a glamourous gold belt, revealing one shoulder and hand.

Earlier, Briefly News reported a 27-year-old woman has given birth to Siamese twins at the Akuse Government Hospital in the Eastern Region for the first time since the hospital's inception in 1911.

The mother and the conjoined twins are doing well.

Announcing this historic medical achievement in a post on Facebook, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who was invited to witness the rare phenomenon, celebrated the medical team led by Dr Tyrus Valmont.

In other news, US-based Ghanaian couple, Kwamena Cudjoe, and his wife, Penelope Cudjoe, have shared their experience about how they handled money during retirement to start a business.

Cudjoe immigrated to the US from Ghana in the 1970s and was later joined by his wife.

Before retiring from active work, he worked as a university professor and then as an international relations officer for the US federal government.
