Cops Arrest 7 Perfume Pirates After Brazen Heist and Shootout

- South African police officers arrested a group of perfume pirates who tried to make off with their ill-gotten gains

- Seven suspected were arrested after a shootout and will appear before the Wynberg Magistrate’s court on Monday, 12 April 2021

- They face a variety of firearms and robbery charges after police found illegal firearms in their posession

South African police officers arrested seven suspects following a brazen robbery in Hout Bay. The suspects broke into a retail chain store and made off with perfume and men's cologne.

The police responded rapidly and a chase ensued following by a shootout where three suspects were arrested after they fled the scene on foot and in a Quantum vehicle with fraudulent license plates.

Two more suspects were arrested by security officers and the SAPS K9 unit arrested another two suspects who also recovered firearm and ammunition as well as housebreaking tools, cell phones and stolen property.

The seven suspects aged between 29 and 40 will appear before the Wynberg Magistrate’s court on Monday, 12 April 2021.

They will face charges of break-in of business premises, possession of prohibited firearms and illegal ammunition as well as pointing a firearm.

Earlier, Briefly News reported that South African police were attacked when they tried to confiscate liquor from an unlicensed liquor outlet in Muldersdrift.

The suspect running the establishment will be charged with contravening the Gauteng Liquor Board legislation for trading in liquor without a licence.

The suspect will also be charged with contravening the Disaster Management Act for selling alcohol after 23:00.

In other news, members of the Metro Police service have been applauded for their success against criminals who were in possession of stolen cable in a video posted on Twitter by @AdvoBarryRoux.

The video clip that has attracted the interest of social media users, two Metro officers are seen in a video grappling with a group but they eventually managed to win the fight.

With a number of passers-by seen observing the incident on what seems to be a busy road, the law enforcers were not baffled as they focused on the task at hand.

Although one of the group members showed resilience to the police, he was conquered in the end as one officer used what looks like a taser.
