Back in February 2012, AKA had dedicated his song Finessin to the love of his life Nelli Tembe. Tembe was a reserved and private person, unlike most of AKA's previous partners.
The couple were set to get married in the near future and AKA was head over heels in love with her.
His previous girlfriends had been high profile celebrities such as DJ Zinhle and Bonang Matheba.

AKA’s late fiancée, Nelli Tembe’s memorial was held on the 15th of April and friends and family all took their time to pay their respects. It was a heavy and hard day for them all.
Nelli’s tragic passing has left a gaping hole in AKA’s heart. The memorial was streamed live so that all who cared about Nelli could join in.
One of AKA’s very close friends, Jabu Nkabinde, stood up at the Tembe household in KwaZulu-Natal to share a heart-warming tribute to Nelli. Hearing what Jabu had to say, there is no denying that AKA and Nelli loved one another dearly and that she was part of everything in AKA’s world.
Earlier, Briefly News reported that DJ Zinhle found herself trending on social media after her picture was mistakenly added in a slideshow of Anele Tembe's tribute pictures during her funeral.
The lone picture of Zinhle stood out and many wondered how anyone did not notice this before the ceremony.
In other news, Nelli's father, Moses Tembe, warned the youth about the use of alcohol and drugs. This has caused a stir on social media. Fans are now speculating on what really could have happened.
Moses said that his daughter was not suicidal at any point and she did not commit suicide. Nelli fell from the 10th floor of a hotel in Cape Town on Sunday.
He also encouraged AKA to accept Christ into his life in the closing of his speech and acknowledged the pain he is going through.
