- A University of Cape Town student recently shared the news that the university had booked students into a nearby hotel for safety purposes amid a fire
- The post also included a few snaps of the hotel room, which is not too shabby at all
- Many locals and particularly students had a lot of comments to make about the post and this was evident in the replies section
As Cape Town fires continue to rage, many contingency measures are being put into place. A University of Cape Town student recently shared that the institution has booked a number of its students into a hotel for safety purposes.
"UCT decided to book us hotel rooms for extra safety. #capetownfire" he captioned the snaps.
While the fires are a tragedy, a lot of people seemed jealous of the young man and the fact that he was staying in a hotel. Soon many hilarious and very silly comments were made about what other institutions would do if they found themselves in a similar situation.
Read a few of their comments below:
"This other institution would hire Putco buses to take us home."
"If it was TUT students they would’ve been walking from Pretoria to Limpopo."
"At least you guys would get buses, some of us we would have been told to wait outside until further instructions, then boom you see the people who are supposed to help you go home."
"Wits would have sent us home."
"Kahle Kahle the only varsity ethatha Kahle is UCT?"
Briefly News also reported that a raging fire in Cape Town has caused a lot of destruction in the area. Some of the many affected are University of Cape Town students, many of whom belong to the Fuller House student residence. The Gift of the Givers organisation has stepped in to help these students.
Heading online, the organisation shared a touching and heartwarming post about how they have stepped in to provide meals for about 4k students whose student housing was affected by the fires that have plagued the area.
"#GiftOfTheGivers responds to #UniversityofCapeTown Fuller House (students' residence) fire. Our teams have responded by preparing meals for 4 000 students for this evening. UCT has requested #GiftoftheGivers to manage the feeding and other essentials for the next week" they captioned snaps of the fires.
