Anthony Hamilton talks about his collaboration with Zonke

Speaking about the collaboration, Hamilton told SowetanLIVE about how he met the star who was on a lookout for backup singers 16 years ago, and they tried to make time to make music together, but they didn't get that chance now in 2025.

"I met Zonke in 2009. We often discussed collaborating, but plans never materialised. It’s only now, in 2025, that we finally recorded two songs together. Honestly, I doubt it would’ve been the same back then, in terms of songs or energy.
"The studio session was relaxed. We were both excited, and the mutual respect we share as artists – especially given her achievements – is genuine. She’s even returning to America. Being part of her legacy, and her part of mine, means a lot to us both- across the U.S. and Africa," he said.

Zonke's R18 million tax drama

In a previous report from Briefly News, Zonke ran into trouble with the taxman as she was said to owe SARS R18 million in taxes. This was, however, caused by the SARS team struggling to contact her regarding the missed payments.

"She has been paying her taxes, but some details slipped through the cracks, and she defaulted," a team member said. They further added that this often happens with artists because they get paid via gigs.
