The South African government has responded to the Russian Programme advertised by some South African influencers. After the mounting complaints and concerns raised online, the head of public diplomacy in SA, Clayson Monyela, finally responded on X.
Social media content creators such as Cyan Boujee and others were dragged online for promoting Alabuga, which mainly targeted 18 to 22-year-old women.
On X, Monyela advised the young women "not to fall for unverified foreign job offers", especially if they are advertised online. He further added that "if something looks too good to be true, get a second opinion."
Now, DJ and influencer Cyan Boujee was featured in a BBC World article, and SA was in disbelief that she was made the 'face' of an alleged scam. The report described her advert in detail, but she has since taken it down.

SA reacts to Cyan being featured on international news site
Given the gravity of the situation, social media users reckon that Cyan will need to do some serious damage control. This is what some people had to say:
@ChrisExcel102 joked:
"And please note that the girl in the video is from Zimbabwe. We don’t know her here in South Africa."
@Paballo_maseko_ cried:
"Not even BBC Africa… straight to BBC World. Cyan is only making this apology because she saw herself on BBC World."
@JoaquinMQ7 asked:
"Scam vibes all over this. Would you ever trust those ads?"
@DeeCover611 stated:
"She keeps on levelling up when it comes to scandals, (fights, accidents, private tapes). Next year, she’ll be back with another banger, bigger and better than this one."
@cyyynosure asked:
"Now that it's confirmed that it is what it is, can they wrap up by arresting the 'recruiters'? Cause there's no way, advertising such things isn't illegal."
@GokuKnocks joked:
"From BBL to BBC."
@LukayWaLehipi said:
"Surely now, nobody, no brand or whatever, will want to be associated with her. Go fedile (It is finished.)"
Anele and the Club hosts call Alabuga Russian school
In a previous report from Briefly News, Anele and the Club on 947 called the Russian school and asked questions about the programme.
The team raised many red flags about the job advertisement, calling out people like Cyan Boujee and others for willingly calling on young women to apply.
"You use influencers who portray a life of success. We do not know how those girls make their money, and I am not here to judge Cyan Boujee and how she makes her money. But all of a sudden, I am involved because you already know your life is being funded dubiously. All of the things you have are not for somebody who works an 8-to-5," Anele Mdoda said.
