The news publication reported that Thusi wrote an affidavit, where she spoke about the drama which unfolded with Bester. Thusi allegedly begged him not to steal her laptop because it contained photos of her daughter, Thando Mokoena.

Realising the danger she was possibly in, Pearl then reportedly offered to take him to church, hoping that this would rehabilitate him.

She took further steps of introducing Bester to Kabelo Mabalane and also apparently gave him a bible.

The South African also reported how Pearl was given a knife when she met Thabo, but she hid that in the back of her car. The actress was only made aware of Bester's dangerous side when she saw the news on TV.

Bester and Nandipha file urgent court application

The couple is, however, challenging Netflix and wants the docu-series never to see the light of day. The controversial couple filed an urgent application on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, to prevent Netflix from airing the documentary, which is expected to reveal a great deal about their personal lives.

Thabo's lawyer argued that they were not allowed to set the record straight. This, in turn, makes them question the authenticity and legitimacy of the allegations made in the series.

"Their client has not been afforded the fair opportunity to address the allegations contained within the documentary," said Bester's legal representative.

The convicted murderer and rapist is currently incarcerated in Pretoria Prison's C-Max section. Through his lawyers, Bester insisted that prison conditions were preventing him from adequately preparing for his upcoming trial.

Social media users then argued that prison is not a place of comfort but rather a place where one should face the harsh consequences of their actions and get rehabilitated.
