Somizi Mhlongo drew inspiration from his heritage when he came up with the line for DFF. The media personality revealed that his father is from KwaMashu, making KZN the perfect place to debut his ancestor-inspired collection.
Somizi presented bold prints and silhouettes with his fashion collection. The pieces were designed for women who are powerful, elegant and unashamedly unique, as he created the line for the theme, The Awakening. Somizi showcased unique textiles featuring eye-catching print.

One of the videos of Somizi's DFF fashion show that went viral was of Mihlali Ndamase, who wore a poofy high-low dress. Zola Mhlongo also had a viral moment as she walked down the runway in a golden rusty piece. Somizi described the line as a blend of wearable pieces and couture.
Somizi's collection ranged from dresses to coats. The colour palette of the collection was earth-toned, filled with tans, champagne gold and white. Somizi walked down the runway with his two show stoppers. A silver dress with a sculpted bodice, and his daughter Bahumi, wore the second, a princess-style lace bottom and a bodice featuring the print threaded throughout the collection.

Somizi Mhlongo opens up about being broke back in the days
Briefly News previously reported that Somizi Mhlongo found himself at the centre of controversy once again on social media. The flamboyant South African media personality, Somizi Mhlongo, trended after being accused of snatching every opportunity that arises in the entertainment industry.

In response to these allegations, the star, who owns an expensive Mercedes-Benz AMG G63, decided to break his silence and reveal to his fans that he was once down and out from 2006 to 2009. Mhlongo detailed how he lost all his millions and went back to square one, and had to build his brand once again from the ground up to what it is today.
Earlier on, Mhlongo was called out on social media by Ringo Madlingozi's son, Phila, for always taking every opportunity in the Eastern Cape, knowing very well that there are local artists in the province who could use the opportunity.
