One of the most beloved names in country music history is being dishonoured in death. Dolly Parton's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was vandalised just a week after the legendary singer died, leaving fans outraged and repair crews scrambling to restore it.
Footage captured by KNX News on 1 September 2026 showed workers on the ground replacing the star after Dolly's name had been scratched off. The tribute, first installed in her honour in 1984, had reportedly been showing signs of wear before the incident.

Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, told TMZ that the star had pre-existing cracks and was already scheduled for repair when the vandalism occurred. A fan reported to the chamber that someone had stolen the flowers left in Dolly's memory and deliberately scratched up the star.
The timing hit hard for millions of Dolly's admirers worldwide. The Jolene singer passed away on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, at the age of 80, following a brief battle with cancer. She died surrounded by loved ones at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Centre in Nashville.
Fans blame Jolene for the vandalism
While many expressed fury at whoever damaged the star, others took a lighter approach, channelling their grief into humour by pointing the finger at Dolly's legendary fictional nemesis, Jolene, from her timeless 1973 classic.
