On 8 September 2026, the show's official Instagram page posted a photo of a script cover bearing the name "NTSIKI," accompanied by the caption: "We taking it way back.... #PastvsPresent." The post sent viewers into an immediate frenzy, with many convinced the show was gearing up to bring back one of South African television's most unforgettable villains.
Who Is Ntsiki Lukhele?
For anyone who lived through the original Generations era, Ntsiki Lukhele needs no introduction. Played by Ethiopia-born actress Pamela Nomvete, the character was a masterclass in manipulation, ruthlessness, and pure on-screen menace. Fans loved to hate her, and her dramatic death in 2001, after a five-year run on the show, left millions of South African viewers stunned and clamouring for more.

Behind the scenes, however, Nomvete's life was far from the power she projected on screen. After her husband's infidelity led to their divorce, she reportedly battled depression and financial hardship so severe that she was at one point living out of her car and selling clothes just to afford food and cigarettes.
Nomvete has carved out a remarkable career internationally. She has appeared in the Disney+ Star Wars series Andor and Sky Atlantic's Gangs of London, splitting her time between the UK and South Africa while staying active across television, film, and theatre. She was also part of the cast of Lockdown, acting opposite Dawn Thandeka-King and Zola Nombona.
The actress also made headlines in late 2025 for a frustrating standoff with South Africa's Department of Home Affairs over her dual-citizenship passport renewal. After she went public and advocated for her rights, her passport was successfully renewed.
