Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema turned an ordinary rehearsal into an unforgettable moment when he showed up to meet the young talent of the Sherrie Silver Foundation in Rwanda. The surprise visit sent social media into a frenzy, with fans across the continent flooding the comments with pride and admiration.
Award-winning choreographer and Foundation founder Sherrie Silver shared the footage on 6 September 2026. In the videos, Rema stands watching with visible amazement as the children showcase a full repertoire of skills, from choreographed dancing and singing to live drumming. Silver followed up with a second clip capturing one young dancer's deeply emotional reaction upon realising the Calm Down hitmaker was standing right in front of them.
The surprise appearance was not an isolated gesture. It came just days after a group of the Foundation's dancers joined Rema on stage in Kigali, giving the youngsters yet another platform in front of a massive live audience.
This is far from the first time the Foundation has rubbed shoulders with international music royalty. In 2023, the group performed alongside Kendrick Lamar at the Global Citizen festival, cementing their reputation as a showcase for Rwanda's extraordinary young talent on the world stage.
