Ntsiki Mazwai has made it clear she is not ready to let Sol Phenduka off the hook. The poet and social commentator responded to Phenduka's public apology with sharp words that tied the controversy back to her own experience with the Podcast and Chill team.

On 16 September 2026, Sol Phenduka addressed South Africa and the family of Elizabeth "Tsontso" Moselakgomo, offering an apology for jokes he and co-host MacG made about the runner's disappearance on their podcast. At the time the episode was recorded, Moselakgomo had gone missing and later turned up dead. MacG suggested the slain runner could have "kept on running" had she noticed danger approaching, while Sol joked that her race number may have made her a target, leaning on wordplay to land the punchline.

Ntsiki Mazwai hits back

While much of the public, including devoted listeners known as the Chillers, accepted Phenduka's remorse, Mazwai was not among them. Taking to X, she pointed to a prior incident in which MacG made remarks about her personal hygiene on air, alleging that Sol was among those who found it funny at the time.

"Your leader called me dirty on national TV, and you all laughed. It starts with how you allow men to speak about women. All women."

Her response framed the Tsontso jokes not as an isolated slip but as part of a broader pattern of how women are discussed on the platform, a sentiment that has gained traction beyond Mazwai alone.

This is far from the first time MacG and Sol have found themselves at the centre of public outrage over their on-air comments. The duo are currently involved in a legal dispute with television presenter Minnie Dlamini, stemming from remarks MacG made about her body odour on the show.

Cassper Nyovest is among the other prominent South African voices who have previously called out the pair for their conduct on the podcast. Phenduka's apology may have drawn a line under the matter for some, but for Mazwai, it reopened a wound that she says was never properly addressed.
